How planet-friendly is your website?

Hi I’m Cait, a second-gen Chinese Australian designer from Western Sydney, with a calling to bridge creativity and social responsibility. Nacara Studio was founded to support purpose-led brands that strive for positive impact.

Sustainable web design is about creating websites that have minimal environmental impact and are socially responsible. The goal of sustainable web design is to reduce digital carbon emissions and energy consumption while enhancing accessibility and user experience.
Environmental Impact of the Internet

Did you know that the internet contributes to around 3.7% of global greenhouse gas emissions per year? This percentage is roughly equivalent to the emissions produced by the entire aviation sector, including both passenger and freight air travel. Each website visit, data transmission, and online interaction requires energy, primarily from non-renewable sources. Sustainable web design addresses this energy consumption by implementing low-carbon design practices.

Why Accessibility Matters in Web Design

Accessibility is essential in web design because it ensures that people with disabilities or vision impairments can navigate and interact with your website. By making your website accessible, you’re ensuring that your online presence is inclusive and doesn’t limit the independence of people with disabilities or vision impairments.
